During the month of October, the City’s Water Department crew will flush water lines via fire hydrants. Because of line flushing, residents in the immediate vicinity of the work may experience temporary discoloration of their water or lower water pressure. The discoloration consists primarily of harmless silt and air. It does not affect the safety of the water. If you experience discoloration after crews have flushed your neighborhood, clear the pipes in your home by running all cold-water faucets for a few minutes. If you have questions, please call the Water Department at 515-382-2074.
