Police Officer

The Nevada Public Safety Department is accepting applications for the position of Police Officer. Interested candidates must submit a City of Nevada application, Cover Letter, and Resume by 5:00 pm on Friday, September 6, 2024.  The link to this application can be found at .cityofnevadaiowa.org/employment/

Physical Agility testing will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at the Nevada Public Safety Department, 1209 6th Street.

Those who successfully pass physical agility testing will have a POST (Police Officer Selection Test) and interview set up at a later date.

Certified Police Officers are preferred, but non-certified officers are encouraged to test.  Minorities, Women, and Military Veterans are encouraged to apply.

Water Operator

The City of Nevada is hiring for the position of Water Operator in our Water Department.

A Water Operator performs maintenance for the water treatment plant and distribution system including collecting and monitoring samples, reading meters, installation and repair of water mains and meters.  Salary is dependent on qualifications and certifications. CDL and minimum Grade 1 Treatment and Grade 1 Distribution Certificate required or obtained within one year. This job includes weekend rotation.

Wastewater Operator

The City of Nevada is hiring for a Wastewater Operator in our Wastewater Department.

A Wastewater Operator operates, inspects, and maintains the wastewater treatment plant, pump stations, and related equipment. Salary is dependent on qualifications/certifications, plus benefits. Class B CDL with air brakes and tank endorsements and Grade 1 Wastewater Treatment Certificate required or obtained within one year. Grade 2 Wastewater Treatment preferred. This position includes weekend rotation.
