On August 3, 2026, Nevada Parks and Rec Director Rhonda Maier accepted the “65 Roses Champion Award” from the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Iowa Chapter for the City’s involvement in coordinating and sponsoring a CF fundraising softball game in May of 2025.
Nevada Parks and Rec worked with Lynn Marr-Moore (who heads Charlie’s Angels Cystic Fibrosis fundraising efforts in honor of Lynn’s granddaughter, Charlie) to bring a group of Iowa State University football team members to Nevada to face off against a team of “Hometown Heroes.” The no-glove charity game raised over $13,000 for Cystic Fibrosis research and was highly entertaining for those who attended!
All those involved hope to bring another charity softball game to Nevada in the future!
