Stream assessment work begins in Nevada

In December 2020, the City announced being awarded a $2 million grant from the Iowa Environmental Protection Commission. The Sponsored Project Grant is made possible because the City is building a new Wastewater Treatment Plant. The City is using a State Revolving Fund loan to help pay for the WWTP project. The interest on SRF loans comes back to the public through grant funds, which any community utilizing the SRF can apply for and hope to receive. Today, staff members from the City’s consulting engineering firm, HRGreen, are in Nevada. Michael Liska (left), Bob Everhart, and Isaac Schrock are starting assessment work along west Indian Creek. The City appreciates all the residents’ letters of support we have received (from property owners in areas where improvements are planned) so we can begin the process of making natural waterway improvements in our community.
