Taylor Beck, 20, is new to Fawcett Family Aquatic Center’s lifeguarding staff, but she’s not new to lifeguarding.
A 2020 graduate of OABCIG — Odebolt, Arthur, Battle Creek, Ida Grove School District — Tyler is in her fourth summer of lifeguarding. Her first job as a lifeguard was in Odebolt, then she did two years of lifeguarding at Mapleton. Both were smaller pools. She likes the bigger pool setting in Nevada.
Originally from Ida Grove, Taylor is the daughter of Bryan and Heidi Beck. She has always been interested in becoming a nurse. “I like helping people; I’m a hands-on person.” She’s a student at DMACC, where she just finished her first year and her pre-requisites for nursing. “I’m taking some classes for my bachelor’s this fall and hope to begin the nursing program in the spring.”
When she’s not busy with work, Taylor said she likes going to the lake with her family. They have a lake house at Ruthven, Iowa. “I also like to hang out with my friends, and currently, I’m taking a summer class.”
Next time you visit the aquatic center, say “hi” to Taylor!
