Mayor Brett Barker, left, receives a check on behalf of the City from the Nevada Economic Development Council. The check, for around $220,000, was presented during last night’s Nevada City Council Meeting by John Hall and Sara Clausen, who represented the NEDC in the check presentation. As explained by Hall, the City and NEDC have had an agreement in place since the start of the East Business Park to split any proceeds from sales of land. The funds given back to the City help cover the infrastructure expense incurred. Hall said the proceeds presented come from two property sales this past year, one to Hy-Vee for their new Dollar Fresh store along Fawcett Parkway, and the other to a private entity planning to put up a building adjacent to the Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home & Crematory. The building, Hall said, will become the future home of the USDA Farm Service Agency.
