It was a short, straight-forward council meeting Monday with the most interesting report of the evening coming from Harold See, interim wastewater supervisor.
See reported having to fix a pump at the treatment facility in recent weeks, after pulling out something you don’t often find in raw sewage. “We pulled a pair of pajama pants out to get it back in service,” he said.
This isn’t the first time that City wastewater employees have found interesting items in with sewage, but it is a reminder to the public to be cautious about what you are flushing. When things, other than waste, are flushed, they can create costly repairs for the City.
Other reports include City Administrator Jordan Cook sharing that a meeting was held earlier in the day between representatives of the County Sheriff’s Office, Nevada PD, City of Nevada, Story County, the Nevada Economic Development Council, etc., on the issue of blocked railroad crossings and what these entities might be able to do to address the problem.
Cook said he’s also recently been in discussions about increasing pedestrian safety in Nevada.
