Kading Properties to Bring New Housing to Nevada

At an event held on December 3, the City of Nevada and the Nevada Economic Development Council celebrated the official start of construction on the Sierra Heights neighborhood with a “snow (ground) breaking event”.

In comments at the event, Mayor Condon expressed his gratitude for the investment in Nevada and, more importantly, for the new housing being created in the community.  He explained, “I look forward to people moving into these homes, kids playing catch in the yard, and neighbors utilizing the beautiful trail.”

When complete, the project will create 138 market-rate housing units adjacent to the NorthView housing subdivision.  The Sierra Heights housing initiative reflects more than $15M in new private investment in Nevada.

Chace Hauschilt, Development Specialist with Kading Properties, stated, “We wish to thank the City of Nevada, the State of Iowa, the Henry Family, and the Nevada Economic Development Council for their unwavering support of Sierra Heights.  In July of 2024 we were in Nevada for a day-long Hometown Tours event; we were impressed with the collaborative efforts evident in the community and involvement by local business and industry in expressing a need for more housing in Nevada. We are excited to officially break ground on this project in a great community.”

Sierra Heights was awarded $1M in Workforce Housing Tax Credits earlier this year matched with property tax incentives from the City of Nevada.  This housing initiative is unique in that the City will also be working with Kading Properties on a main line sewer extension for the whole area, and with Kading Properties and the NorthView Subdivision in a three-way investment for trails.

The first housing units are expected to be ready for occupancy in late 2026.
