In partnership with Country Landscapes, Nevada Parks and Rec is beginning prairie restoration work on the trail loop, west of the City Cemetery and south of Lincoln Highway. This work will happen in phases, starting with the removal of many little sapling trees.
“At some point we’ll also burn off the existing grass and spray the entire area, so we can start with a clean slate to get the prairie seed established,” said Tim Hansen, Nevada Parks and Recreation Director.
The trail loop will be open most of the time while this work is being done. There may be small periods of time, during burning and spraying, when the loop part of the trail system will be closed temporarily.
Work could start as early as this week, and it’s an exciting project for the community.
