Absentee voting (often referred to as early voting) begins on Wednesday, October 18.  In-person absentee voting is available from next Wednesday through Monday, November 6, during regular business hours at the Story County Administration Building.  Regular business hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday – Friday.  On days with statutory deadlines, the building is open until 5 p.m. (October 23 and November 3).

 

Wednesday, October 18 is the first day any requested mailed absentee ballots will be mailed.  The deadline to request a mailed absentee ballot is Monday, October 23 at 5 p.m.  Requests must be received in the Auditor’s Office by the deadline.  This is also the deadline to pre-register to vote.

 

Satellite absentee voting will be available on Saturday, November 4, at the Ames Public Library from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  All ballot styles for Story County will be available.

Results on election night are unofficial.  Results are official following the canvass of votes.  If your city or school is entirely within Story County, the final canvass for your jurisdiction will be the canvass of votes on November 14, scheduled for 3 p.m.  If your city or school is in multiple counties, your final canvass is November 21, scheduled for 3 p.m.

 

Write-in vote information is NOT available on election night.
