Progress on putting up a new shelter house at Hattery Park along north Sixth Street took a step forward this week with removal of the old concrete floor.
Director of Parks and Recreation Tim Hansen said residents will see work on the new shelter happening next week. The new shelter replaces the shelter that was structurally damaged and taken down after the derecho of August 2020.
Hansen said the new shelter will be similar in size and features to the one it replaces. Like the former, it will be an open structure with lights and outlets. The only difference is roofing. The new shelter will have a metal roof.
The contractor for the project is Cary Martin of Cary Martin Construction Inc., Nevada.
