Introducing our newest student Parks and Rec workers

Two new student Parks and Rec seasonal employees joined the summer team this year.
Colin Memmer, 18, of Huxley and a 2022 graduate of Nevada High School, is the son of Stephanie Memmer and James Memmer, both of Huxley. He is the younger brother of Chase Dobson of Nevada and Leighton Memmer of West Des Moines. Colin plans to attend Central College this fall and play basketball. He believes he may pursue a degree in sports management.
Nate Anderson, 18, of Nevada, will be a senior at Nevada High School this fall. Nate is the son of Joe and Lucinda Anderson, and he’s active in football, baseball, and track.
As seasonal maintenance workers, the two say they have been busy mowing and weed eating around the parks and public areas, and cleaning up trash and emptying trashcans. They also helped with ballfield maintenance in the early part of summer for all the fields at SCORE, including the high school baseball field.
Colin said he enjoys the job because he likes his co-workers. “They’re easy to get along with and are helpful and reliable. If I don’t know something, I can go to them for help.”
Nate said he enjoys the job because he likes being outside all of the time and not being cooped up inside all day. “I also like being productive” in making the community look better.
