New FFAC Lifeguard Harper Schnettgoecke

Harper Schnettgoecke, 15, is the last of our featured new lifeguards at Fawcett Family Aquatic Center this summer.

The daughter of Ray and Cara Schnettgoecke, Harper will be a sophomore at Nevada High School this fall.

Harper has two siblings, an older brother, Connor, 18, who just graduated from high school and will attend Iowa State University to study ag business this fall; and a younger sister, Piper, 12, who is going into seventh grade at Nevada Middle School.

During the school year, Harper is active with dance team, basketball cheerleading, and tennis. She is also a student at Main Street Dance Studio where she does competitive dance.

When she’s not at work, her favorite summer activity is hanging out with friends. “We like to go get coffee or get together at someone’s house,” she said.

Her favorite thing about her lifeguarding job is watching the kids swim. The most important thing she’s learned from this job experience “is that it takes a lot of patience to teach kids.” All lifeguards help teach swim lessons, and her swim lessons have included enjoyable preschoolers. “They were really funny; they always have comments.”

Next time you visit FFAC, say “hi” to Harper!
