The City’s engineers report that the first phase of this project, from West N Avenue to the Union Pacific RR underpass, has experienced several significant delays due to conflicts with underground infrastructure, notably fiber optic cables and unknown storm sewers.
All new storm sewer and sanitary sewer in this phase and water main improvements in the intersection of S-14 and West N Avenue have now been completed, and construction of the new roadway has commenced. Final roadway grading, subgrade preparation, sub drains, and rock subbase are completed.
The first section of the curb and gutter through the underpass was completed today (August 22). The remainder of the curb and gutter for this phase will be completed on August 23 and 24.
The 10-inch thick asphalt driving surface will be placed early the week of August 28, with the first phase opening to the public shortly after that.
Once the first phase area is open to the public, work on the second phase, between West M Avenue and West N Avenue on S-14, will begin.
