City Fireworks Show Donation from American Legion Auxiliary

Cathy Vincent of the American Legion Auxiliary presented a check for $1,382.09 to Mayor Brett Barker during the Aug. 14 City Council meeting. The money will go into the City fireworks show account to support this community 4th of July event. Vincent said they had solicited many businesses for donations in the past, but with more events and needs in the community, they will now look to donate the proceeds of the “rootbeer float” sales that follow the 4th of July parade at the Legion Post. This will be the one event each year earmarked specifically for the City’s fireworks show. Vincent said several businesses did give larger donations this year, including OnTrack, LongView Farms, and Key Coop. Any resident who would like to support the ongoing City fireworks show on the 4th of July each year may donate at city hall for this fund OR go to the Legion Post following each 4th of July parade and purchase a rootbeer float!
