City of Ames utilities extension will close East Lincolnway this winter into spring

Starting Date: Weather permitting, beginning the week of January 2, 2023.

The City of Ames has contracted with Keller Excavating for the next phase of construction for new utilities of the Prairie View Industrial center. This phase of the project will include water main and sanitary sewer along the north edge of East Lincolnway from Teller Avenue (580th Street) to Potter Ave (590th Street). Keller Excavating is nearing completion of the work at Teller Avenue and will continue to move the deep trenching operation along East Lincolnway.

For the safety of the traveling public, this will require the closure of East Lincolnway from Teller Avenue (580th Street) to Potter Avenue (590th Street). With the trenching operation extending as deep 25 feet and winter road conditions, this closure is necessary to ensure both the safety of the workers on site and the traveling public. This closure is anticipated for the week of January 2, 2023. This will be a moving operation requiring an extended closure over the winter months. Teller Avenue will be reopened for
north and south traffic.

Anticipated Duration: The trenching operation is expected to take 3-4 months to complete.

Action Required by Residents: Please use the signed detour route and follow posted speed limits. Speeds along East Lincolnway will be reduced during active construction. Please review the anticipated Workzone and detour route included with this notice. This is subject to revisions as necessary but provides an idea of the project location.
