The City of Nevada and the Nevada Economic Development Council are leading a community-wide effort to develop a 20-year vision and new strategic plan for Nevada.
A Strategic Planning Team has been formed to manage and oversee the process, which will involve:
- extensive public input through a questionnaire,
- a community event, and
- small group interviews to ensure a vision and strategic plan reflecting the needs of our community.
The Strategic Planning Team is currently seeking your opinions through a questionnaire available online at https://tinyurl.com/Nevada2040, or on the City’s website City of Nevada, Iowa. Hard copies of the questionnaire are also available at City Hall, the Main Street Nevada office, Story County Administration Building, and Fareway. The questionnaire will be open through Feb. 15.
The City is working with the Institute for Decision Making (IDM) at the University of Northern Iowa to facilitate the visioning and strategic planning process. IDM has a 33-year track record of providing hands-on community and economic development planning with communities and organizations across the state. IDM previously assisted Nevada in developing the Vision 2020 plan.
