The Nevada Foundation, in partnership with the City of Nevada, has awarded $16,069.58 in grant funding. These funds, awarded to five non-profit organizations, will provide necessities in the areas of food, shelter, and clothing in the community.
Nevada Mayor Brett Barker explains, “In the past the Council has considered these requests directly. Upon the recommendation of our auditors, we developed a more formal and focused process to support these important causes in Nevada. We are grateful that the Nevada Foundation assisted with the formal grant making process.”
A four-member committee evaluated and scored the applications. Organizations selected to receive funding this year include:
- The Nevada Community Resource Center
- Harmony Clothing Closet, Inc.
- Salvation Army of Ames & Story County
- Nevada Food at First
- Good Samaritan Fund
The goal of the Human Services grant funds is to support projects that enhance the basic needs for food, shelter, and clothing in Nevada.
We anticipate another funding round will be held this fall. If you have questions regarding this year’s awards or future funding rounds, please contact Brenda Dryer, Nevada Foundation Board member at brenda@ameschamber.com.
