Work on the 2024 Streets/Infrastructure project in the Central Elementary School area is set to begin soon.
Corey Merrigan, project manager for Construct, said the project will start on the morning of Monday, April 15.
On that morning, the following streets will be closed off:
- 9th Street from I to H Avenue
- I Avenue from 8th to 9th Street
After the roads are closed that morning, work will begin on tearing out the pavement. Merrigan noted that there may be an occasional need for construction equipment at the intersection of H Avenue and 9th Street.
Also to be closed as this project starts is the elementary school’s west parking lot exit. People with children at the elementary center should watch for more information from school leaders about the traffic patterns that will be in place and how they address safety concerns in the playground area and west side of the building during the construction work.
