New this year on the Fawcett Family Aquatic Center lifeguard staff is Alec Higgins, 16, of Nevada. Alec is the son of Shane and Shari Higgins and the brother of Jack, Grant, Ella and Drew. He will be a junior at Nevada High School this fall.
Alec’s main activities in high school are playing forward in basketball and receiver in football.
In the summer, he stays busy working, hanging out with friends, and driving around. He and his friends like to visit other swimming locations for fun.
Alec said lifeguarding is a good match for him, as he’s always been a good swimmer. The “saves” that lifeguards train for were challenging, he said, but overall he finds the job relaxing and a great way to get a tan.
Next time you visit the aquatic center, say “hi” to Alec!
