New firefighter hails from Central Indiana

A newcomer to Nevada has recently become a new member of the Nevada Fire Department.

Evan Lehr, 23, who hails from the Central Indiana town of Delphi, said he was a firefighter in Indiana for a couple of years and wanted to continue that service in the community where he now resides.

Lehr graduated from Purdue University’s College of Agriculture, graduating in May of this year with a degree in Agricultural Systems Management. He came to Iowa when he took a position as systems engineer for a start-up company, Sabanto Ag on the west side of Nevada. “I work on developing autonomous tractor technology.”

Lehr said he enjoys being a fire department member and working with fellow firefighters. When not at work or with the fire department, Lehr enjoys mechanical work as a pastime. “I am in the process of working on a 1948 Chevrolet COE truck,” he said.

Lerh is single. He said his favorite emergency television show is “Sirens.” When it comes to a favorite fire movie, he answered, “Isn’t Backdraft the only one?” And the one thing only his high school friends would probably know about him is this: “We used to go to a trampoline park for fun.”

Welcome to Nevada, Evan!
