Calling on 200 families to help us reach our goal

The City of Nevada is excited to announce the award of two large grants for the Nevada Field House program. The project was recently awarded a $25,000 grant from the Story County Community Foundation and a $424,000 State of Iowa Community Attraction and Tourism (CAT) grant. These two grants get the project much closer to the fundraising goal of $7 million.

Upon the receipt of these important grants, the Nevada Foundation has begun a push for pledges totaling $200,000 from the community. The Foundation is asking for 200 families to pledge $200 a year for five years as part of this campaign. The campaign will culminate in a call-a-thon on January 5th with a goal for the Nevada City Council to begin the project bidding process in January.

“We are so very close to our fundraising goal on this project! We are thankful for the large amount of pledges and support that we have already received for this project, and I know that the Nevada community will step up this month to get us across the finish line,” said Michelle Cassabaum, who is chairing the fundraising campaign.

Community members interested in being part of this project can find information and a pledge form to download on the City’s website at the following link and then click on ‘Form to Pledge Your Financial Support”: Nevada Field House / Park & Recreation Offices | City of Nevada, Iowa (cityofnevadaiowa.org). Forms may be turned in at Nevada City Hall, Nevada Parks & Rec office, or State Bank & Trust.
