Nevada City Councilman Steve Skaggs recently received the Governor’s Volunteer Award for individuals.
Skaggs was nominated by Main Street Iowa Coordinator Michael Wagler for his contributions to Main Street Nevada. Skaggs led the successful drive for Nevada to become an Iowa Main Street Community, and he served as president of the organization for its first two years. During Covid-19 and the downtown streetscape/reconstruction project, Main Street Nevada worked hard under Skagg’s leadership to preserve and grow Nevada’s downtown district.
In addition to serving as a city councilman, Skaggs currently volunteers as a Main Street Nevada board member. He also serves as a board member for the Camelot Theater Foundation and is a member of the Nevada Evening Rotary Club.
Congratulations to Councilman Skaggs on this well-deserved recognition.
