Need trees? Check out this great offer from the Iowa DNR and Alliant Energy

Iowa residents and Alliant Energy customers can purchase landscaping trees for their homes at deep discounts this spring. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) collaborates with local nurseries and organizations to provide a mixture of hardwoods, low-growing ornamental, and evergreen tree species.

Through funding from Alliant Energy, as part of its One Million Trees Initiative to plant 1 million trees in Iowa and Wisconsin by 2030, customers of Alliant Energy can purchase landscape-sized trees (3-6′ tall) for only $25.

Residents can purchase up to two trees per planting address. The orders are being processed by Story County Conservation, and the trees will be available for pick up Tuesday, May 17, from 4-6 p.m. at East Peterson Park in Ames.

Order forms for the event can be downloaded from our website, and need to be mailed in with payment to Story County Conservation. Go to: https://www.iowadnr.gov/Conservation/Forestry/Urban-Forestry/Residential-Tree-Programs.

Alliant Energy’s One Million Trees initiative will help plant more than one million trees — one tree for each utility customer — by the end of 2030.
