New Nevada Police Officer is a North Polk graduate

Broc Davidson takes the oath, administered by Brian Hanson, mayor

Broc Davidson, a 2018 graduate of nearby North Polk High School, is the newest member of the Nevada Public Safety Department/Nevada Police Department.

Already a certified police officer, Broc was sworn in March 10, during the Nevada City Council meeting and can now go directly into the police department’s training.

Broc grew up in Elkhart, and after high school, he attended DMACC, where he earned an Associate’s Degree in criminal justice.

“I wanted to help people and serve a community. Helping people is what I’m good at, and law enforcement is an honorable profession,” he said about his choice of career.

Broc’s first officer job after college was with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

After getting married, he and his wife, Courtney, settled in Ames, and he took a job briefly with the Iowa State University Police.

He’s now excited to start work in Nevada. “Nevada reminds me of home… it’s a nice small town.” Davidson has been in Nevada before, especially during high school when he wrestled and ran cross country. “I love the original Starbucks, and that my sister lives here.” Alyssa Davidson is his sister who resides in Nevada.

While somewhat familiar with the town, Davidson admits that learning all the streets will be an early challenge for him in the job. The other personal challenge for him, he admitted, will be getting better at communication.

“I’m quiet, but I love getting to know people,” he said.

As an officer, Broc hopes to be a dependable resource for the community. “I’m always going to be there; my family says that about me. That if someone needs help, I’m there.”

Broc and Courtney met while attending Salt Company, a college-based ministry. They are currently the parents of an orange tabby cat named Roy, who Broc said is full of personality. In his free time, Broc enjoys playing soccer, playing video games, and watching professional sports. “If I had to name a team I like, it would be the New Orleans Saints, but mostly, I just follow players.”
