Iowa Representative Dave Deyoe (left in picture), R-Nevada, was presented an Iowa League of Cities Legislative Service Award during Monday’s Nevada City Council meeting.
The award, presented by Mayor Brett Barker, is for the 2020 Legislative session. It seeks to recognize elected officials who have made extraordinary efforts on behalf of cities during their tenure as an elected official and specifically during the preceding legislative session.
Legislators receiving the award must meet one of three criteria:
- Effort – Demonstrated extraordinary effort to work with the League to pass, alter or halt legislation
- Dedication – Showed dedication to city issues
- Responsiveness – Consistently listened and responded to League concerns
In presenting the award, Mayor Barker recognized Deyoe for “his above-and-beyond efforts to ensure that League members voices are heard and being willing to speak up in his caucus. Rep. Deyoe attends local government legislative forums, reaches out to city officials in his district for a better understanding of how legislation impacts them and spends countless hours on the phone and in meetings with local government officials throughout the legislative session. Rep. Deyoe is also known for his extensive efforts promoting economic development in the State of Iowa.”
