The City of Nevada is seeking a dynamic, visionary leader to be our next Director of Public Safety. Under administrative direction
15th Street & Lincoln Highway, Harrington park provides a shelter with a large grill, restrooms, picnic tables, two softball diamonds, playground equipment, a 9 hole disc golf course, and skate park, along with plenty of green space and parking.
Located at Q Avenue and 6th Street, this area provides a shelter, restrooms, basketball court, playground equipment, picnic tables and grills.
The trail begins on Lincoln Highway and continues south and east throughout the community along Indian Creek. It eventually ties into paved shoulders on 11th Street and paved trail that runs within SCORE Recreation Complex.
A beautiful seven-acre area developed by the Kiwanis Club of Nevada, this park is located at 701 11th Street – South of the church. Enjoy space for baseball, softball and soccer, shelter house, restrooms, picnic tables, grills, and playground equipment. Access to the Indian Creek Greenbelt Trail is available here.
Krupp Park, located at 336 Lake View Court, was completed in the fall of 2006. Amenities include a playground, shelter, and half-basketball court.
This three-acre park can be found at South 12th Street and South I Avenue. This park provides green space, basketball court, shelter house, picnic tables, grills, and playground equipment.
This beautiful green space, located at the intersection 2nd Street & Meadow Lane – South of the Fairgrounds, is a passive recreation area which provides a large green space, a picnic shelter, picnic tables, grill, parking, and a connection to the Indian Creek Greenbelt Trail.
This is a 58-acre park located at 1543 Fawcett Parkway. Features of the park include an outdoor aquatic center, pavilion, soccer fields, 4-plex of softball/baseball diamonds, 4 tennis courts, a multi-purpose basketball court, 2 playgrounds, High School Baseball Field, lighted trail, and the future home of the Nevada Fieldhouse.

Tim Hansen has served as Director of Parks and Recreation in Nevada since June 15, 1993. A graduate of Iowa State University, Hansen served as Recreation Director at Eagle Grove before coming to Nevada.
Jayson Kingsbury started out in the City’s Wastewater Department as an operator from July 2019 to July 2021 when he was promoted to his current position as Building and Grounds Coordinator for Parks and Recreation. Kingsbury is a 1994 graduate of Nevada High School and has a bachelor’s degree in Conservation Management from the University of Upper Iowa. He and his wife, Stacey, have two children.
