At the April 22, 2024, Nevada City Council Meeting, a group of Nevada volunteers — nominated by organizations that utilize lots of volunteers in the community — were recognized for their service. They each received a special pin from Main Street Nevada Director Emily Schaack, and then were pictured with the Mayor: (from left) Barb Mittman, Kathy Solko, Michelle Flynn, Christa Skaggs, (Mayor Barker), Elizabeth Gindt, Jalene Hornbuckle, and Ann Kurtenbach. Not pictured were Jeff Spencer and Lisa Oxley, both nominated but unable to attend.
