Wastewater Treatment Facility

Project Description: Construction of a Wastewater Treatment Facility to perform nutrient removal, specifically Enhanced Biological Phosphorus Removal (EBPR), and handle flow/loading spikes.

The City of Nevada is accepting bids for Phase 3 of the Wastewater Treatment Facility Improvements.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources has completed an environmental review for the location of the new wastewater treatment facility. They have issued a Finding of No Significant Impact (FNSI). Documentation is available online at: www.IowaSRF.com/ER. A comment period is available through Nov. 26, 2020.

Overall, the entire WWTF Improvement Project construction costs are 11 percent below the final design planning costs.  The total construction cost to date is less than 1 percent above the total original bid costs due to change orders encountered.  In the engineer’s experience, the typical change order percentage for a project of this scope, magnitude, and duration is between 3 and 5 percent.

This lift station will be what pumps the entire City’s wastewater from town out to the new treatment plant. It will have 4 pumps that will pump wastewater through 2 14 inch force mains that will go into a structure south of highway 30 where it will gravity flow to the new treatment plant.
